Spanish Immersion for Five Year Olds
The elementary program at Courthouse Academy features small class sizes with two teachers—one speaking English and the other Spanish—to provide a rich bilingual learning experience. Building on the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL), our teachers go beyond the basics, allowing students to master core subjects while exploring concepts in greater depth. Through this immersive approach, students excel academically and develop strong bilingual skills, preparing them for future success.
FULL SPANISH IMMERSION
The kindergarten program is full Spanish Immersion. Your child will be guided through expanding their Spanish skills, increase their Spanish vocabulary, work on better comprehension, and are required to display their comprehension through practical knowledge and lessons. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions section below if your child has never learned Spanish before.
LIFELONG LEARNER
Your child will excel in our kindergarten program focused on preparing them for a lifelong interest in education and learning. Our small-class environment stimulates your children's minds, and builds upon your children's academic foundations.
START WITH BASICS AND MOVE WELL BEYOND
The teacher will be able to take your children to the next level while encouraging them to use creativity, imagination, and knowledge in a structured, integrated, and hands-on learning environment. The Virginia Standards of Learning will be used as a guideline, moving on to an additional and deeper understanding of all subjects studied.
NO SPANISH EXPERIENCE OR FAMILY BACKGROUND REQUIRED.
Children do NOT need previous exposure to Spanish to participate in the immersion program.
LOW STUDENT-TEACHER RATIOS AND SMALL CLASS SIZES
We offer a 1-8 teacher to student ratio which is much lower than most other private and all public options. This means your child will excel through much more individual attention from his teachers.
TECHNOLOGY FOCUS
A focus on technology, science, and math will help your Kindergartner compete in today's world and gain confidence in these important curriculum areas.
NATURAL PLAYGROUND ELEMENTS
Our fun playground features natural elements such as tree stumps for jumping and organic climbing. This encourages exploration and connection to the outdoors.
ALL-INCLUSIVE ENRICHMENTS
Spanish, Art, Physical Education, and Music education is included at no extra charge. We don't want you to worry about any 'additional fees'.
Curriculum At A Glance
Your child will be encouraged independent thinking and problem solving through self-directed activities. They will learn to be respectful citizens and to be involved in the community. A strong emphasis is placed on reading skills to help your child read above their grade level. Students will further develop their Spanish speaking abilities and use more conversational skills, becoming more confident in their ability to communicate in Spanish with their teachers and peers.
