“My accountant was not paying my payroll taxes, so I got a letter from the IRS. They were shutting me down because I owed $130,000 in back payroll taxes.”
She joined the Southeast Virginia chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization to get peer mentorship.
“People in my field don’t go into business because they want to be in business. They do this because they want to help children.”
She knew she needed to know her numbers better. Now, she is in her Quickbooks every single day and she has a much better handle on the money and how it’s being used.
She worked on school culture and morale.
“Morale was very bad at the school.”
Courthouse Academy is the only Spanish immersion school in Hampton Roads.
Her advice when times are tough: Find a mentor.
